Mummified
The systematic obliteration of the feminine. This work is a radical, visual indictment of the centuries-old practice of robbing women of their identity, visibility, and freedom. Hair – always a symbol of female strength, pride, and individuality – is here repurposed and transformed into the shackles of merciless concealment. Head and eyes are blinded, squeezed into the corset of patriarchal and societal dogmas. Mummified in the pale light of isolation, the woman seems degraded to a mere sculpture. Yet, the uncovered mouth remains free as a vulnerable but powerful sign of resistance. A visual manifesto that demonstrates: One can veil a woman's face and block her eyes, but one can never suffocate the untamed life and truth beneath the bandages. Aluminum printed using thermal sublimation (Chroma-Luxe technology), framed with a wooden frame and shadow gap, sticker on the back with title, edition, year, and signature.
