Current size: 2" Sexed females. Chromatopelma cyaneopubecens, often called the "Green bottle blue" or "GBB" is one of the most eye catching species of tarantula that is commonly available in the hobby and it is also one of the minority of species where the sling coloration is as eye catching as the adults, though the actual color and pattern is extremely different from sling to adult. The species originates from an arid region in Venezuela and the care for them should be arid. Similar to Aviculariianae species, allowing the enclosure to become stuffy and stagnant can cause a rapid decline in the health of this species, resulting in death, however, if conditions are more appropriate this species is usually very hardy, and will typically have a very hearty appetite. C. cyaneopubecens is a terrestrial species known to web quite heavily. It is more agile than your typical NW terrestrial though, and will often use a little more vertical space than average (they will use small bushes in the wild) so many will apply a "semi-arboreal" descriptor to the species. While digging a burrow is very uncommon for the species, even as slings they will often still create a burrow/tunnel by means of creating webbing over provided hides, clutter, the walls of the enclosure, and the top of the substrate. In general, they are a highly visible species.
