Vintage Japanese Mutsume-ami Style Ikebana Basket - Bamboo
A vintage Japanese mutsume-ami style ikebana basket, designed as a vessel for floral arrangements. Made from split take (bamboo). The basket features a low, wide form with a broad handle arching overhead. It is constructed in the mutsume-ami, or six-eye, weaving style, which uses a three-direction technique to form a geometric hexagonal lattice. The open body is framed by a thick golden bamboo rim secured with dark wire wrapping. Known as a hanakago, this style of basket is traditionally used in Japan to hold casual or seasonal ikebana flower arrangements.
