Railroad Socks 2 Pack – Chiefs
I am not afraid to admit that I have a bit of an obsession with American sports socks. Not in like a Channel 4 documentary way, just in a way that means I will never give up searching for the very best. When I was 14 I made my dad drive to a shop 70 miles away from our hotel in Orlando to get some vintage-inspired socks from a brand called Railroad socks. We went there, bought them and I put them straight on… even though it was 35 degrees outside. They looked and felt exactly like what I imagined Magic Johnson and co wore in the ’80s and I have been a huge fan ever since. I have regularly written to Railroad Socks, but to no avail… Until a few weeks ago, when I discovered that they actually would like me to stock their lovely socks and here they are ready for you. No flying to Florida, no disgruntled dads, just really nice socks. What makes Railroad’s socks special are the fact that they feel like this style of sock has remained unchanged since they were first released in the ’70s. There is a ribbed leg, cushioned sole and flat seams at the toe for whether you are being a point guard for an ’80s basketball team, or just sitting in your house. What makes these socks lovely are the very retro stripes, which have been a feature of American athletic apparel for years. These socks come as a two pack of the Chiefs colours which are red, white and yellow. One pair comes with more yellow stripes and the other with more green stripes so that you can show off your love for Taylor Swift’s favourite team 2-times-per-week. Railroad have been making socks in the USA for over 125 years, so they know a thing or two about socks, I am just excited to see what you think. An artefact from a bygone era, retro stripes and two pairs of socks for what most people are charging for one pair nowadays. What more could you need?
