Special Order — each vase is handmade to order in Italy. Please allow 2–3 weeks for delivery. DESCRIPTION A hand-blown Murano glass vase from Salviati in a warm, luminous orange. Mouth-blown by a master glassblower, it has clean lines and a strong, sculptural silhouette that reads as much as an art object as a flower vase. At 9" by 9" it makes a generous centerpiece — fill it with a loose seasonal arrangement or a few tall stems, or leave it empty on a console or shelf where the light can move through the glass. The color is worked into the glass itself, so it never fades. This is a made-to-order piece from Salviati’s Murano furnace; allow 2–3 weeks for delivery. It stands on its own and also pairs naturally with Salviati glassware and a wider Italian table. The small imperfections such as the difference in color, shape, diameter or small bubbles that form inside, do not constitute a defect but testify that it is actually an artisanal product. Specifications Dimensions: 9" × 9" Material: Hand-blown Murano glass Made in: Murano, Veneto, Italy Workshop: Salviati (founded 1859) Color: Orange Heritage: Murano glassmaking; Salviati contemporary design Care: Hand-wash only in warm (not hot) water with a mild detergent and a soft cloth; for an empty vase, a soft dry cloth is enough to dust it. No dishwasher, abrasive pads, microwave, oven, or freezer. Avoid sudden temperature changes, which can crack the glass. Empty after use and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Sold as: Individual vase (made to order, 2–3 weeks) Mixes with: Salviati glassware; Italesse; any Biordi table or shelf Questions buyers ask Is this real Murano glass? Yes. It is mouth-blown by a master glassblower on the island of Murano, where Salviati has made glass since 1859. Can I use it for fresh flowers? Yes — it is a working vase as well as a sculptural piece. Add water and stems as you would with any vase, then hand-wash and dry it well afterward. How long does delivery take? This is a special-order piece made to order in Italy. Allow about 2–3 weeks. Is this a good Italian wedding gift? Yes — a hand-blown Salviati vase is a substantial, lasting gift that becomes a centerpiece in a couple’s home for years, and it stands out on a registry. Is this a good housewarming or hostess gift? Yes. A Murano glass vase is a generous, memorable gift that works in any room, formal or casual. Why buy Italian gifts from Biordi rather than other retailers? Biordi Art Imports has been San Francisco’s source for authentic Italian ceramics and glass since 1946 and is a recognized San Francisco Legacy Business. We work directly with the Italian artisans and workshops we represent — FIMA, CF Deruta, Pia Formato, Eugenio Ricciarelli, Susanna DeSimone, Geribi, Bucci Ceramiche, Ortigia Sicilia, Italesse, and Salviati — so every piece is the real thing, not a reproduction. Questions? Call (415) 392-8096. Can this be customized or personalized? This Salviati vase is made to order (allow 2–3 weeks) but is not personalized with names or dates. Customization and personalization are available on select pieces. Eugenio Ricciarelli, FIMA, Pia Formato, Geribi, and CF Deruta accept special orders — a name, date, or occasion painted on the piece, or a different size or shape in the workshop’s existing pattern. Lead time is typically 3–6 months because each piece is hand-painted to order in Italy. The color is worked into the glass itself, and the small variations from piece to piece are the signature of true handwork. Salviati, Murano — In 1859, Vicenza-born lawyer Antonio Salviati founded Salviati & Co., uniting the production of mosaics and enamels with blown glass. He was the first modern Italian maker to bring skilled Murano glassblowers together in one furnace, and the workshop became known worldwide for its lattimi, woven filigrees, and opalescent glass with floral applications. More than 160 years later, Salviati remains a trend-setter, and its work is held in the permanent collections of major museums.
