Kingdom of Saudi Arabia road map—English-cover Ministry issue—Clyde Surveys 1981
'خارطة طرق المملكة العربية السعودية / Road map of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia' An unusually detailed bilingual national road map of Saudi Arabia produced during the kingdom’s early-1980s infrastructure boom. At 1:2,500,000, it extends from the Levant and Iraq across the Gulf states and Arabian Peninsula, combining hypsometric relief with a dense transport network. The legend distinguishes dual carriageways and roads complete, under construction, designed or under survey, alongside railways, settlements, airports, oil fields and pipelines; a lower-right inset locates the kingdom regionally. Marked “Expected position May 1981”, the sheet makes planned infrastructure visible as well as completed routes. Cartography is by Clyde Surveys of Maidenhead, shortly after the firm adopted that name. This copy is distinguished by its beige English-language Kaaba portfolio, issued with the compliments of the Saudi Ministry of Information.
