This Pair of Chinese Porcelain Ginger Jars has one of various forms manufactured second half of the 20th century. The form features high shoulders with a cylindrical body tapering to a short foot rim. They are decorated with a common famille rose floral motif on a blue ground surrounding a scenic depiction of a bird perched in a tree among prunus blossoms. The lid has a floral decoration with a gilded border. The jars have a simple circular border in the middle section of the neck and a ruyi border along the shoulders. A lappet border surrounds the foot. The base is marked with a six character apocryphal Tongzhi mark in red. Measures approximately 11" tall and 6" across the body with a 4" diameter opening. There is no damage but flaws consistent with age and manufacturing. Kiln grit is present along the edge of the glaze on the base. There is also crazing of the glaze on the base and glaze crawl apparent on the lid. There is also some scuffing that looks as if someone attempted to clean the base with an abrasive material in one area.
