PRODUCER PROFILE The claim to be Portugal’s most impressive and dynamic cooperative winery, is not without substance. Adega Cooperative de Redondo brings together around 200 producers, representing more than three-quarters of the viticultural subregion of Redondo, deep in the Alentejo. Founded in 1956 by just 14 growers, with an aim to rejuvenate the region after the ravages of phylloxera and the government’s singular determination to support cereal monoculture to the detriment of other crops, Adega de Redondo was born. Today, they fly the flag for authentic, quality Alentejo wines and are proud member of the Alentejo Wines Sustainability Program. Red wine accounts for 75% of their total production, along with a handful of fresh white wines made from indigenous varietals. VITICULTURE An intriguing blend of characterful indigenous varieties, Roupeiro, Fernão Pires and Arinto grapes grown on mainly granitic soils within the Vinho Regional Alentejano area, but also some schist and clay-limestone soils. WINEMAKING Temperature controlled fermentation at 15 degrees in stainless steel vats preserves the fresh fruit purity of the wine. TASTING NOTE A characterful Branco with an intense aroma of tropical fruit, with a lovely lift of citrus on the palate. Bright, crisp and refreshing, with an elegant structure and harmonious finish. FOOD MATCHING Ideal as an aperitif or accompanying light starters, salads, seafood or grilled fish.
