Children climb the ladder to the deck, step out onto the small balcony, then zoom down the 1.75m slide. With the deck raised to approximately 900mm, the Raised Herbie creates a cosy storybook retreat up top and a sheltered play nook below. The Raised Herbie arrives with a temporary water-based stain to protect the timber in transit. This is not a permanent finish. To protect the timber and help maintain your warranty, paint all surfaces before assembly. We recommend painting within 2–4 weeks of delivery. Children should always be supervised when climbing, playing on the raised platform, on the balcony and using the slide. Use the slide one child at a time, feet first and sitting down, and keep the area at the bottom of the slide clear. Because this is elevated play: Position on soft, level ground and consider an impact-absorbing surface (such as soft-fall mulch, rubber or grass) under and around the deck and at the base of the slide Check the balcony rail, ladder and slide fixings regularly and keep all fasteners secure Keep the deck clear of toys and trip hazards Placement requirements: Level ground: Position on level ground to prevent movement or instability. Uneven ground can cause timber movement, gaps and warping Good drainage: Place where water drains away to prevent moisture build-up, rot and mould. Avoid low-lying or flood-prone areas Stable base: Provide support under all platform legs, floor joins and walls. Pavers alone are not recommended Weather protection: This play equipment is not cyclone-rated. Secure loose items and bring smaller pieces indoors before severe weather Natural shade: Consider placement that offers some protection from harsh afternoon sun Natural timber characteristics: Timber is a natural product and may develop minor cracks and gaps over time as moisture content changes. This is normal expansion and contraction and does not affect the strength, durability or structural integrity of the cubby house. Cracks typically close back up once moisture returns. Assembly & Support The Raised Herbie is supplied as pre-fabricated timber panels and components with assembly hardware. A second adult makes assembly easier, and we recommend painting before you build. Tip: Snug is secure — do not overtighten screws, as this is the leading cause of timber splitting during assembly.
