Palms Garden Tour

Join us for a relaxed 90 minute garden tour at Matakana Palms, exploring beautiful subtropical gardens with one of the nursery owners, Craig or Nic. 1.15pm — Meet at the Matakana Palms yard. Enjoy a tea or coffee before we set off. The tour includes a visit to Bruce and Raewyn Whistler’s 8-year-old private garden, featuring an impressive collection of subtropical plants, including palms, clivia, cycads, frangipani, large Australian grass trees, small island with bridge, a beautiful waterfall and lots of inspiration. 2.45 - End of 'formal tour' 2.46 - Optional free hour to explore or eat a BYO afternoon tea If you choose and have time you have use of the garden for 1 hour for a BYO Picnic. You are welcome to relax and enjoy a BYO picnic at the Fale, on the lawn or Firepit area. Drinking water, fridge and toilet facilities are available. 3.45 - End of use of garden space Come and be inspired by established subtropical gardens, discover new plants and enjoy a relaxed afternoon at Matakana Palms. You'll need walking shoes, sun hat, rain coat, umbrella, picnic food. There are some un even surfaces and spiky plants. We go ahead rain or shine. This tour has a maximum number of 15 people. Please let us know if you have any mobility issues and communicate before hand if you have specific topics you are interested in learning about. We are flexible with dates and different sized groups, please get in contact if you want a tailored tour. We commonly offer Garden groups tours. We have even had people engage in our garden! For an additional cost we can provide catering (eg platters, grazing table or local bakery/cafe kai). We don't however have a liquor license.
