Hōmaikaʻohe Button Up Aloha Shirt- White

This button up aloha shirt features our Hōmaikaʻohe print on White print on Ash and Titanium Ink. Hōmaikaʻohe This design of bamboo was inspired by a hula workshop that Nalani taught. We made ʻohe kāʻekeʻeke, musical pipes used as percussion instruments to accompany our hula. In gathering the bamboo, I was taken by the long slender internodes, the calm in the surrounding forest, and the special light that filtered through the leaves. Just north of Hilo, a bamboo grove is said to have been planted by Kāneʻāpua and Kanaloa. The bamboo grove, Hōmaikaʻohe (Bring-forth-the-bamboo), is often mentioned in mele. We honor place with this design. Inspired by the ivy-league shirts of the early 1900s, the fabric designs are pure Hawai‘i, and the look is pleasingly fresh. The Pullover features a half placket and is designed slightly wider to allow over-the-head dressing with ease. Coconut buttons are featured on the stand-up, button-down collar and on the front placket. Tuck it in or leave it out over the trousers for a more casual look. Either way, it's the perfect touch of crisp aloha!
