Bouquet Basket Shawl
Description Info Shown In Gather two colors of fingering weight yarn to knit this top-down lacey shawl. The first color features a textured basketweave pattern framed with I-cord edges. The basketweave motif increases in size to shape the semi-circular shawl. Use a color pop or splashy speckled yarn for the smocked border with crisp twisted stitches. Large yarn overs and short rows complete the shawl, resulting in an exaggerated holey effect. A final picot bind off mimics bouquets of flowers blooming from the lacey border. The textures of this shawl are a delight to knit, especially with a soft and silky yarn like Qing Fibre Yak Singles. The colors of this yarn are dyed on a light grey base adding a shadowy depth and dimension to each stitch. Size One size Finished measurements 49″ / 124cm wingspan length, 23″ / 58cm from CO to BO edge measured along the center of the shawl. Measurements taken after blocking. Yarn Fingering weight Yardage Color A - 400yds / 366m Color B - 460yds / 421m You can use a strand of lace weight mohair silk like West Wool Glowhair for the picot bind off of the shawl. This fluffy fiber is optional if you want to add an adventurous mohair finish to the border. The yardage recommendation above represents all the required yards/meters needed to complete the shawl including the bind off. The bind off uses approximately 90yds / 82m.
