A beautiful set of five antique Charles Dickens volumes in warm brown embossed cloth bindings with gilt-lettered spines. This set includes David Copperfield; Barnaby Rudge and The Mystery of Edwin Drood; Martin Chuzzlewit; Oliver Twist, Pictures from Italy and American Notes; and Bleak House. Published by Syndicate Trading Company of New York, with illustrations by notable Dickens artists including Hablot K. Browne (“Phiz”), George Cruikshank, and F. Barnard. All five volumes have tight bindings. Pages show age-related yellowing and toning, with some rubbing and wear to covers, edges, and corners. One volume has a detached title page, which is included. Sold as a decorative antique book set; ribbon and greenery pictured are not included.
