We have completely revitalized our perennial staple, the CM47, returning to this iconic silhouette with an entirely new material profile. This release proudly marks the debut of our newly launched LAST RESORT “COMBAT MILLS” series, a dedicated collection born from disassembling and analyzing original vintage military textiles to weave our own proprietary fabrics entirely from scratch. The premier fabric engineered for this series is our custom Herringbone Twill (HBT). Mirroring the exacting development process of our famed 41 Khaki, we acquired and analyzed several different variations of authentic vintage military herringbone garments. We began at the absolute foundational level with raw cotton selection, ultimately settling on American cotton from the deep south. This allows us to faithfully replicate the unique balance of natural softness and robust structural body inherent to mid-century military textiles, while capturing the beautifully uneven, texture of the original fabric. Furthermore, original vintage military herringbone was woven using an incredibly intricate structural technique to increase tensile strength: alternating S-twist and Z-twist yarns across the vertical warp threads. We have uncompromisingly replicated this sophisticated weaving method in our proprietary fabric, resulting in a herringbone twill that possesses a uniquely defined, authentic broken-twill character. The design is modeled after the iconic Baker Pants (M-47) adopted by the U.S. military in 1947. Originally taking their name from the field bakers who wore them - and alternatively known as fatigue trousers - these highly practical pants were issued for both combat duty and heavy utility work. Appearing as the direct successor to the M-43 trousers, the M-47 is characterized by a cleaner, more streamlined design that omitted the large side cargo pockets in favor of clean patch pockets and authentic urea buttons. For this release, we have completely reconstructed the M-47 silhouette using our heavy-duty COMBAT MILLS Herringbone Twill. Available in two distinct colorways, the substantial weight of the textile gives these trousers a commanding presence on the body. As they are subjected to hard wear, the fabric will gradually shed its dye, yielding the beautiful high-contrast fading and character unique to vintage military gear.
