Hummingbird Music Publishers · Hark! the Herald Angels Sing (Piano Duo) Watch Score VideoView Score Hark! the Herald Angels Sing is an eighteenth-century Christmas hymn with text by Charles Wesley and melody borrowed from Felix Mendelssohn’s secular cantata Festgezang (also known as the Gutenburg Cantata) composed for the 400th anniversary of the invention of the printing press. It was organist William Cummings, however, who later combined text with melody and created the harmonization that has endured since 1855. This adaptation for Piano 4-hands lends itself to a range of tempos; hence no set marking is provided. The arrangement is of moderately-advanced difficulty, with both performers sharing the responsibility equally. At 84 BPM, the duration is approximately 2:30 mins.
