Onion Jam, Chihuahuan Aeolian Soil / Holes / Candle of the Month

April's Candle of the Month is inspired by Louis Sachar' nostalgia tale Holes. This layered scent opens with the aroma of warm, slow-cooked onions - rich, deeply caramelized, and intensely aromatic. Notes of sugar and vinegar mingle with a touch of maple syrup and the faintest hint of garlic, creating something golden, sticky, tangy, and bold - cooked down as if under a relentless sun. It’s warm and oddly comforting in a way that feels almost earned… like you’ve been working in the heat all day. The scent then gives way to earthy basenotes of sun-dried Chihuahuan desert soil, which adds a mineral softness - redolent of arid, empty lakebeds and the dry dust kicked up as shovels strike hardened earth. Wind-blown and slightly metallic, it carries the unmistakable scent of barren landscape and shadeless sky. As it burns, the decadent jamminess of the complex onion notes and the scorched earthiness of the soil meld into something unexpectedly alluring…a scent that definitely won’t upset the Warden!
