The Mantengoli family has farmed this land since the 1930s, with Andrea and Marcello taking the estate into winemaking in 1988. Situated just northeast of Montalcino — neighbours to Cerbaiona and Biondi Santi — on a complex mix of tuff, sand, schist, and galestro. Gemini is the estate's flagship: a single parcel planted in 1993 at 400 metres, always the last to be harvested, certified organic, and aged 42 months in large oak casks before a minimum six months in bottle. This is deeply textural, silken and supple, with depths of ripe red berry fruit and spices that swirl giving way to a hint of tobacco toward the close. The 2020 finishes long and structured, with a web of fine-grained tannins as violet inner florals linger on.
