Ngila Estate SL28 - Tanzania

The SL28 variety is most commonly associated with Kenya, but this lot from Tanzania’s Ngila Estate beautifully showcases what the variety can achieve just across the border. We approached this roast with espresso in mind, focusing on highlighting a distinct, jammy blueberry note that defines the cup. What makes this coffee particularly interesting, though, is its versatility. Brewed black—whether pulled as a shot, plunged on an AeroPress, or poured as a filter—it’s vibrant and fruit-forward. But where it really surprised us is in milk. The blueberry note is structured enough to cut right through, making for a really distinctive, sweet flat white.
