#40 Yokei Mizuno (270ml)
Handcrafted by Tokoname ceramic artist Yokei Mizuno, this yohen yakishime kyusu expresses the quiet beauty born from the interaction of clay, fire, and natural materials. Its rounded persimmon-inspired form is enriched by subtle kiln transformations and distinctive hidasuki markings; vivid red to brown patterns created by wrapping straw around the vessel before firing, where the potassium of the straw reacts naturally with the iron-rich clay. Fired without glaze, the yakishime clay develops a textured, breathable surface appreciated for its ability to soften and round the flavor of tea over time. With continued use, the teapot gradually acquires a deeper luster, allowing each piece to evolve uniquely through years of brewing. Combining traditional craftsmanship with the organic irregularity of natural firing effects, this kyusu offers a refined and deeply tactile tea experience rooted in the enduring heritage of Japanese ceramic art.
