Ink, caught in stone. Sumi is a tall, slim column of solid alabaster, hung from a fine black cord. Its veining is dramatic — dark grey threads drifting through the pale stone like ink bled into paper — and when lit, the whole column glows warm from within, the veins reading deep against the light.
