Intro to Sashiko Embroidery // Saturday July 17th 1-3pm

Workshop details July 11th, 1 - 3 pm @ Friends Forever Studio (285 Rantoul St, Beverly, Pond St entrance) with Haley! Discover the meditative beauty of sashiko, the traditional Japanese hand-stitching practice rooted in repair, reinforcement, and quiet rhythm. In this 2hr workshop, you'll learn the foundational running stitch and work through a classic geometric pattern—creating a small finished piece to take home. We'll cover how to transfer designs onto fabric, how to maintain even tension and consistent stitch length, and how to think about pattern and repetition as a creative practice. No prior experience required—just a willingness to slow down and enjoy the process. Great for crafters and makers drawn to mindful, repetitive creative practices like knitting or weaving or menders looking to add a decorative hand-stitching technique to their toolkit. With a deep family history of sewing, tailoring, and craft education, she brings generations of knowledge to the classroom—along with a love of making that spans spinning, weaving, sewing, and more. She teaches and provides mending services across the Greater Boston area. Her classes aim to demystify the crafts we yearn to learn, and are rooted in both skill-building and storytelling—helping students feel at home with their tools and empowered to bring their ideas to life.
