The stippling is the same technique used on the famous Alloa bottles. The name of Margaret Sanderson and date of birth of 29th January 1829 has allowed me to find out a bit more about the family. Research suggests they were from South Shields. Margaret’s father worked as a glass blower and her brothers were shipwrights. It appears that the Sanderson family had a mariners background in the area. This is one of the best pieces of folk art I’ve had in a while. Condition is good, commensurate with age and use.
