Introduced in 1941, the Multi-Centerchrono is Mido’s most iconic chronograph. Its principle is ingenious: the four hands are central – no sub-dials – and the activated chronograph visually evokes a split-seconds function. The column-wheel caliber 1300 is a modification of the prestigious Valjoux VZ ébauche, also used by Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet. The vast majority of examples produced were in steel or gold-plated. This one is in solid 14k yellow gold – an extremely rare variant, of which fewer than a handful of examples have been identified over several decades. The Borgel/Taubert case retains its original "sunburst" pushers, known as "Tasti Tondi" – the same as those found on the illustrious Patek Philippe ref. 1463. The silver/champagne dial, with its blue tachymetric and telemeter scales, presents an authentic patina. The movement has been fully serviced by one of our experienced watchmakers and runs impeccably. "Fresh to the market," coming from the original French owner’s family, it is a remarkable discovery.
