Vintage Japanese Midare-ami Style Ikebana Basket - Bamboo

The basket features a rounded form tapering down to a sturdy, woven ring base. It is crafted with wide, dark brown bamboo strips layered in an organic, irregular pattern that gives the piece a heavily textured, rustic appearance. A high, slender handle composed of multiple split bamboo lengths arches over the wide upper opening. Known as a hanakago, this style of basket is traditionally used in Japan to hold casual or seasonal ikebana flower arrangements.
