Diane Duvall is a local artist who works in clay. This series of necklaces feature her handmade pendants, formed in clay and raku-fired. Raku is a traditional Japanese low-fire ceramics technique in which the glazed pieces are fired quickly in a kiln, then shocked by removing them from the kiln whilst still red hot and plunging them into a combustible material like sawdust or newspaper, and from there, into water. The result are glazed ceramic pieces that are crackled with carbon lines. Each of these pendants hangs on black cord that closes with a metal clasp... some of the cords are leather, some are satin-silk. If you have a preference as to the material of the cord, do let us know.
