The Cheshire Green Stripe Blanket Box Ottoman
The Cheshire is a characterful and practical piece dating from around the 1930’s to the 1940’s, and as a result, it has plenty of rustic charm. I really love the fact that this blanket box is large and offers plenty of flexible storage, but equally the beautiful floral details which stand it out from the crowd. It has been restored and reimagined for modern day use, hand-painted with a classic and timeless striped design to the lid and sides. After full preparation to the wooden frame, this has been refinished professionally in country shades of green and off-white, which compliment perfectly a cottage or farmhouse interior. The floral details around the lid and carved frieze on the front have been carefully stripped of the original dark varnish to reveal a lighter colour which highlights the design even more, I really wanted to accentuate this element as furniture these days often lacks these pretty and unique details and I just thought it would be nice to make more of a feature out of it. The blanket box has ample storage inside for shoes, clothes, blankets; and still has its original castors, and stopper chain to prevent the lid from going back too far (protecting the hinges.) To finish the hand-painted design and add a more authentic and rustic feel I have enhanced the paintwork with a slightly aged look, however it is smooth to the touch for practicality. The combination of a vintage piece of furniture and a unique hand-painted design makes this blanket box entirely bespoke, and I can imagine this looking beautiful as a focal point in a bedroom, or entryway even, would definitely bring more joy, style and character into your home. Colours used for Interior Design Reference; Rosemary & White Oak by Fusion Mineral Paint (Alchemy Range) Please also note that each piece of furniture art is signed and dated on the reverse. Condition The interior has been oiled to replenish the natural wood, keeping the inside clean, tidy, and ready for use; and the hinges open smoothly, The ottoman stands solid, with the original castors still intact, so you can roll into position should you need to. Please keep in mind that this piece is wonderfully vintage and will show minor signs of use and character relevant to its age but I love that it has a previous life and stories to tell! It is a 1940’s utility piece that has been refinished to a good standard. The condition is great, with smooth flat paintwork with a rustic appearance.
