Field Notes notebooks are designed first and foremost for practical, portable everyday use. Ballpoint pens, rollerballs, mechanical pencils, pencils, and fine-tip pens are especially well suited to them. Fountain pen performance varies by edition, paper, ink, nib width, and ink flow, so we do not recommend treating Field Notes as a dedicated fountain-pen notebook. Fine and medium nibs may work well on many editions, while wetter combinations can show feathering or bleed-through. Expedition's synthetic Yupo paper is not suitable for fountain pens.
