Oyster Self-Rising Mechanical Flood Gate

The Oyster™ Self-Rising Mechanical Flood Gate is a passive, water-activated barrier designed to protect downward-sloping entrances against approaching floodwater. It is particularly well suited for parking garage ramps, driveway ramps, loading docks, transit entrances, tunnels, and other below-grade access points where rapid flooding could occur without enough time for manual deployment. During normal conditions, the Oyster panels lie flat so vehicles and pedestrians can pass over the protected entrance. As floodwater approaches, water enters internal cavities within the barrier modules. The resulting buoyancy automatically raises the panels into a near-vertical position, creating a rigid flood wall without electricity, motors, external power, or human intervention. When floodwater recedes, water drains from the internal cavities and the system can be returned to its flat standby position following the prescribed reset procedure. Oyster is built from connected modular panels and configured to match the width and required protection height of the project. Standard modules are combined with narrower filler modules and flexible wall seals to achieve a close fit across the protected opening. Available in approximately 24-inch, 36-inch, and 48-inch protection heights, Oyster can be installed as either a recessed in-ground system or a surface-mounted retrofit. Its heavy-duty, anti-skid construction is designed for vehicle and pedestrian traffic while the barrier is in its closed position.
