Paper Birch Seedling

Paper Birch (Betula papyrifera) is an incredibly useful tree in so many ways. Birch bark is rot-resistant, flammable, and it can be used for paper, canoes, siding and roofing buildings, and so much more. Sweet syrup can be made from the sap, and the wood is great for carpentry. The whole plant can be used for a wide variety of medicinal recipes. Birch trees like moist soil, and in fact they are "aggressively water-seeking" so don't plant them where they can get into buried water lines. Paper Birch can be grown in full sun to deep shade, but they do need a lot of water to perform at their best. These are 2 year old bareroot seedlings, 8 to 16 inches tall.
