Japonisme Style Cabinet Vase
This piece beautifully captures the late Victorian Japonisme movement, blending East Asian botanical aesthetics with early Art Nouveau pottery techniques. Antique Alfred Stellmacher Turn-Teplitz Cabinet Vase, Japonisme Style – c. 1885–1895 Description: An authentic, fine late-19th-century Bohemian porcelain cabinet-sized vase produced by the porcelain maker Alfred Stellmacher in Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia (modern-day Czech Republic). Bulbous, cream-coloured body features elegant underglaze hand-painted motifs of purple maple leaves and grape clusters. This flat decoration contrasts strikingly with the short, narrow neck and base accents, which are finished in a heavily textured, relief-moulded slip glaze coated in bright, encrusted gold gilding. Identification mark features the original blue circular underglaze stamp with a central rosebud, reading "ALFRED STELLMACHER TURN" with a "TEPLITZ" scroll banner, which dates the item to between 1859 and 1897. Hand-painted batch numbers 413 / 1025 on the base. Corresponding to the factory mold/shape number 413 impressed into the unglazed foot rim, confirming the body and decoration are entirely original and matching. Dimensions: Height: 14 cm. Diameter: 15cm. Condition: Good Antique Condition. The heavily encrusted gold gilding and hand-painted body decoration are exceptionally well preserved with minimal surface wear and no chips or fleabites. There are a couple of very faint, stable hairline cracks present on the body/base consistent with age.Condition reflected in images.
