Inspired by the well-known photograph of a US Marine manning a scoped M2 .50 calibre machine gun near Khe Sanh, Vietnam, during the 1968 siege. The Marine's identity was never recorded. The scope is an early passive "starlight" night vision sight of the AN/TVS-2 type, not a daytime optic. It amplified starlight and moonlight so gun positions could watch the perimeter after dark. Kit includes: 1 x US Vietnam Era Marine figure 1 x M2 .50 cal machine gun with starlight scope 1 x .50 cal tripod 1 x .50 cal ammunition belt 1 x open .50 cal ammo box 3 x closed .50 cal ammo boxes The figure sits cross-legged behind the gun, stripped to the waist with a sweat band around his head. He grips the spade handles and looks through the scope. The M2 is mounted on its tripod with a belt feeding from the gun. Ammunition boxes complete the position. The set works as a standalone vignette or as part of a larger firebase or perimeter diorama. Available in 1/35 and 1/48 scale. High-resolution 3D-printed resin
