Salvia 'Bordeaux'

Salvia 'Bordeaux' (Ornamental Sage) Salvia 'Bordeaux' is a richly coloured and free-flowering ornamental sage that delivers a long and generous display from early summer right through to autumn. It produces a succession of deep burgundy-purple flower spikes above aromatic, grey-green foliage, creating a warm and sophisticated effect in the border. A superb plant for pollinators, it is particularly attractive to bees and butterflies throughout the season. 'Bordeaux' has a neat, bushy habit that makes it ideal for the front or middle of a sunny border, combined with ornamental grasses, Echinacea, Achillea, and other sun-loving perennials. Its rich flower colour works beautifully in warm, jewel-toned planting schemes and it is equally effective in large containers on a sunny patio. Deadheading spent spikes encourages a continuous flush of new flowers throughout the season.
