Aspidistra sichuanensis 'Amanogawa', Cast Iron Plant

One of the Apsidistra selections that caught the eye of our nursery owner, Leonard Foltz, while on his 2024 trip to Japan. This selection comes from Kataoka Shoko-en-ns, a nursery near Joetsu. In the garden Aspidistra will tolerate dry shade (much like Hosta) and form clumps of elegant upright leaves, spreading via rhizome. They are one of the few perennials that can thrive in deep, dark, dry shade. They also grow well indoors as potted houseplants. Mature size: 2 ft T x 2-3 ft W Minimum temperature: 5°F
