Beavertail Beaver

Only in Canada would you find a beaver skating down a frozen canal, wearing a red toque, scarf, and mittens, and enjoying a BeaverTail. Well, maybe not in real life, but it certainly seems like something that could happen in Ottawa. Beavertail Beaver brings together unmistakably Canadian favourites: our national animal and that wonderfully indulgent Ottawa treat, the BeaverTail pastry. With a cheeky expression and a snack in hand, our furry friend looks perfectly at home enjoying a little winter fun in the nation's capital. The Story Behind Our Beavertail Beaver Art Print Living in Ottawa, it's hard not to appreciate the wonderfully Canadian spectacle of the Rideau Canal in winter. Where else can you skate through the middle of a city, surrounded by historic landmarks, and stop for a hot BeaverTail along the way? It's one of those experiences that gives Ottawa its character, and it seemed like a pretty good starting point for a piece of playful Canadiana. I've always enjoyed combining familiar Canadian icons in ways that are a little unexpected. The beaver was an obvious choice, especially given the name of the pastry, but I wanted to give him some personality. The red toque, scarf, and mittens make him look ready for a proper Ottawa winter, while that cheeky expression and round physique suggests he's enjoying his BeaverTails just a little too much. There's something about the whole combination that makes me smile. For Ottawa locals, former residents, visitors, and anyone with a soft spot for Canadian winter traditions, this piece brings together a few familiar favourites with a healthy dose of humour. It's a little bit of Ottawa, a little bit of Canada, and a beaver who clearly knows how to enjoy himself.
