Label: Nice Records Release Date: 24th April We should all be living by the mantra 'life is just a bowl all bran, you wake up every morning and it's there' from HappyDaysToyTown which finishes off this 10/10 record. An album that I could look you in the eye and unflinchingly say 'is a better concept record than Sgt. Pepper'. You start off on a trip with the title track and end with the thundering grinding organ of Afterglow, Rollin Over is pure Jimi swagger and then Stanley Unwin comes in 'sits you two square on your botty' and delivers one of the most charming psychedelic tales in 60s pop. ‘Ogdens’ Nut Gone Flake’ is the Small Faces most successful LP and one of the most iconic albums of all time. A UK No.1 for 6 weeks, it featured hit singles ‘Lazy Sunday’ and ‘Afterglow Of Your Love’ plus classic tracks ‘Rollin’ Over’ and ‘Song Of A Baker’. The LP added a conceptual twist with side two’s story of ‘Happiness Stan and his quest for the missing half of the moon, narrated by Stanley Unwin. Now for the first time since 1968, ‘Ogdens’ Nut Gone Flake’ will be released worldwide on Small Faces drummer Kenney Jones’ Nice Records, a new label dedicated to artist-led releases. The facsimile 1-LP has been cut at half-speed by Henry Rudkins at AIR Studios, giving the mono LP a better dynamic range, more defined and accurate sound with extended low frequency and smooth high frequency response. The LP edition includes a lavish replica of the 5-panel fold-out round card sleeve from 1968, with award-winning artwork and design by Nick Tweddell, Pete Brown and Mick Swan plus Gered Mankowitz’s photos. A 4-panel insert reproduces the master tape box with illustrated sleeve notes by Small Faces authority Mark Paytress, the 180-gram heavyweight vinyl LP with facsimile Immediate Records labels is in a poly-lined inner, housed in a protective 350- gsm die-cut sleeve with custom hype-sticker, all put together by Grammy Award-winning graphic-designer, Rachel Gutek. · Curated by surviving Small Faces member Kenney Jones for his new reissue label, Nice Records · Mastered at half-speed by Nick Robbins for superior sound with LP lacquers cut by Henry Rudkins at London’s AIR Studios. · Replica award-winning round sleeve lavishly recreated on 300-GSM card-stock LP SIDE 1 1.
