Kilncare IKON replacements Springs - Set of 2 IKON Kiln Lid Spring Installation Purpose: To safely install the replacement lid spring for all IKON kilns Procedure: Prepare the kiln. Ensure the kiln is switched off, disconnected from power and positioned on a stable, level surface. Keep other people clear of the immediate work area while the spring is being installed. Identify the spring orientation. Hold the spring so the long straight section points downward, as shown in the reference image provided by Kilncare. Locate the upper end. Position the upper hooked end of the spring into its corresponding mounting point on the kiln lid assembly. Position the lower section. Carefully bring the long straight section of the spring down toward the lower mounting slot/bracket. Fit the spring. Carefully locate the long end into the lower mounting position. Keep your face and body out of the spring's potential path while fitting it. Do not use excessive force. The spring is under tension and may flick or release unexpectedly during installation. Check installation. Once fitted, visually check that both ends of the spring are properly located and that the spring is sitting in the correct orientation. Test the lid. Standing clear of the spring mechanism, slowly open and close the kiln lid to confirm that the spring remains securely seated and the lid operates correctly. Do not place fingers near the spring, hinge or other pinch points while testing. Important: Safety glasses/goggles must be worn when fitting the spring, as it can flick off during installation. If the spring does not fit easily, appears damaged, or the mounting points do not align as expected, stop installation and contact Australian Pottery Supplies/Kilncare for advice rather than modifying or forcing the spring.
