2.6–2.8mm Sapphire — Set (3) — Mixed Blue Tones These 2.6–2.8mm Sapphires have a beautiful mix of light to deep blue tones, ranging from soft steel blue and denim blue to richer cornflower and midnight blue. Some display subtle grayish or greenish-blue undertones, giving each stone its own character. Their lively faceting makes them wonderful accent stones for adding a touch of classic blue to a design. Sapphire is a variety of corundum, prized for its exceptional hardness, durability and beautiful range of colors. Although best known for its blue varieties, sapphire occurs in nearly every color of the rainbow. Its blue color is primarily produced by trace amounts of iron and titanium. Sapphire has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, making it an excellent choice for many jewelry applications.
