Turley Wine Cellars: Old Vines, New Arrivals Tasting Flight Friday 22 May
Turley Wine Cellars: Old Vines, New Arrivals Tasting Flight Friday 22 May Tables are available from 6:30 pm. Simply book your place and tell us what time you’d like to arrive. We’re excited to introduce a wine tasting flight featuring seven of Turley’s newest releases—each wine a distinct expression of site, history, and varietal character. From old-vine Zinfandel to Rhône-inspired whites, this lineup is both powerful and nuanced. Turley is one of California’s most respected wineries, known for championing old-vine Zinfandel and Petite Syrah. They work with historic vineyards across the state—many planted in the late 1800s and early 1900s—focusing on organic farming and minimal intervention to let each site speak clearly. These vineyards are living pieces of history. Many were planted by early settlers—often European immigrants—who brought cuttings from home and established vines that still grow today. Gnarled, low-yielding, and dry-farmed, they produce wines with real depth and character that simply can’t be replicated. When Christina Turley visited us last year, Andy managed to persuade her to include a few special vineyard wines in our allocation—bottles he’d long admired since visiting the winery himself. Thanks to that conversation, we’re proud to be the first UK merchant to stock both White Coat and Library Vineyard from Turley. Christina also shared a personal story about the Library Vineyard. As a child, her father would drop her off at the local library for the day—but more often than not, she’d wander next door into the vineyard instead. Planted between 1880 and 1920, it became a place of exploration and curiosity, and remains her favourite wine to this day. It’s this combination of history, place, and personal connection that defines Turley. About our tasting flight evenings... The tasting is booked per table, restaurant-style, so it’s designed to be shared. Invite friends or loved ones, take your time, and enjoy the wines while you chat and catch up. The evening is untutored, informal and relaxed, allowing you to explore the wines at your own pace. Full tasting notes will be provided at your table, offering useful background information along with space for your own notes and observations. Andy, Amanda and Nick will be on hand throughout the evening, pouring wines and available to chat or answer any questions you may have. Tables are available from 6:30 pm. Simply book your place and tell us what time you’d like to arrive. We look forward to welcoming you for an evening of great wine, relaxed exploration, and good conversation. We hope you can join us.
