The Talking mugs
11 cm x 13 cm Screenprinted stoneware vase 2026 Part of the series, "Still Listening: Ceramic Relics of Climate Change". With support from the New Brunswick Arts Board, I engaged in months of experiments in screenprinting ceramic materials to crisply document today's communication towers for future generations. As part of their Ponts Vivants residency at the Centre des Arts et de la Culture in Dieppe, Alison etched, sgraffitoed, printed and painted images of communication towers onto traditional, hand thrown pottery mugs. These iconic images of The Talking Tower and the lesser known Quispamsis SuperStore Cellphone tower, were printed from photos taken in March 2026, and should last for thousands of years.
