Service: Hasselblad A70 back CLA

By popular demand, we now CLA these backs! The Hasselblad A70 back is far more complex, mechanically, than Hasselblad's 120 and 220 backs, and we've never been able to find a repair shop that will service them. Due to their age, and sensitive frame counting mechanisms, they are very subject to gumming up. This problem is often invisible, and with double perforated 70mm film, often they will still work by placing a great deal of extra strain on your camera. But backs with this problem will not work well once you convert the back to all-perf. If you find that your back is not advancing frames properly after you install our all-perf wheel, the back almost certainly needs a CLA. We disassemble the back, inspect its key mechanisms, and remove all degraded grease, then re-lubricate and test all mechanisms. This solves most problems, but occasionally a mechanism is broken. This can affect loading the film (initial winding), frame spacing, or both. Absolutely no spare parts are available for these backs, and if we find that something is broken, we may not be able to repair it. However, we will do our best, and at a minimum we can let you know what is broken and how it will affect operation. In some cases, we have workarounds for broken mechanisms, and labels we attach that give those instructions, and enable the back to continue to be used. But there is no guarantee that everything will work properly when we are done--just that we have CLA'd it and done our best to get it in working condition. If we think a back is beyond hope, we'll let you know before we begin work, and give you the option of us returning it for a refund. Please allow a 3 week turnaround time for us to CLA these. If you purchase an all-perf wheel at the same time as the back, we are happy to install it for you as part of the CLA.
