This natural malachite specimen has dozens of concentric rings showing interesting patterns. Such specimens are highly sought after and very collectible. Cut and polished for a great display specimen. Malachite was used as a mineral pigment in green paints from antiquity until about 1800. Often resulting from weathering of copper ores it’s often found together with azurite, goethite, and calcite. Malachite is extensively mined at the fabled King Solomon's Mines. 3.5 to 4 Moh’s hardness. 4 1/2" long x 4" wide 1 1/2" deep
