Tritcum dicoccum This high-yielding, tall grain grows 3-4 feet tall with a surprising blue tinge to the seedheads and grains. A predecessor of modern-day wheat, Ethiopian Emmer is lower in gluten and higher in protein and fiber, making it potentially easier to digest and healthier. Dan Jason of Salt Spring Seeds in British Columbia brought this variety from Ethiopia to the US in the 1990s. Planting Instructions: Sow outdoors 1/2-1" deep, 1-2" apart in early spring. Space rows 8-12" apart. Or broadcast seed and rake into the soil. Seed Saving Instructions: Select robust plants, free threshing grains or other desired traits for seed saving. When fully dry, cut seedheads into a bucket. Stomp to dislodge seeds, and blow chaff away with a fan or wind. Store seeds in a cool, dark and dry place. Approx 200 seeds/packet
