CROATIA – HOME SHIRT 2016 The Croatia national football team represents the country in men’s international football and competes under both UEFA and FIFA. Their iconic colours draw inspiration from two national symbols: the Croatian checkerboard and the national tricolour. The team is affectionately known as the Vatreni (The Blazers) and the Kockasti (The Checkered Ones). Since 2000, Croatia have qualified for every major tournament except UEFA Euro 2000 and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. On the world stage, they have been successful for such a small nation - finishing as runners-up in 2018 and securing third place in both 1998 and 2022. Croatia has produced several legendary players, including Davor Šuker, who claimed the Golden Shoe and Silver Ball in 1998, and Luka Modrić, who won the Golden Ball in 2018 and the Bronze Ball in 2022. The team has also reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA European Championship twice (1996 and 2008) and finished as runners-up in the 2023 UEFA Nations League. This home shirt in their iconic checkered pattern was worn at the 2016 EUROs as Croatia reached the Round of 16, losing 1-0 after extra time to eventual champions Portugal.
