The TOS designation is Toslink: optical digital, the standard fiber optic connection found on TVs, streaming devices, CD players, and DACs with optical inputs. At 10 feet, this is toward the longer end of what plastic optical fiber handles well, but still within the reliable range for standard audio signal transfer. Toslink's practical advantage over coaxial digital is galvanic isolation — the optical connection breaks the electrical ground path between components, which eliminates a potential source of ground loop hum.
