Poecilotheria Subfusca Highland, also known as the Ivory Ornamental, is one of the most sought-after species in the tarantula world. Renowned for its striking appearance, this tarantula boasts a deep black body adorned with vibrant purple and yellow ornaments that make it a true standout in any collection. Unlike most Poecilotheria species, the Poecilotheria Subfusca Highland stays on the smaller side, maxing out at around 6+ inches in diagonal leg span. This adaptation is due to the high elevations it inhabits in the wild. Interestingly, these cooler, higher altitudes have also contributed to the Ivory Ornamental’s slower and docile nature—making it unique among Poecilotheria. In fact, it’s the only species in the genus observed living communally in the wild! With that being said, keep Poecilotheria Subfusca Highland in an arboreal enclosure with vertical cork bark and lousily packed substrate!
