Goryeo Celadon Bowl with Incised Flower Design
A celadon small bowl made at the end of the Goryeo dynasty. It is thinly made, has a small foot, and is a shallow bowl shape. Two handles are attached from the base to the body, and despite its small size, it has a finely crafted design with holes. The body is decorated with cloud-like floral patterns in incised relief on two sides. Typical of late Goryeo celadon, it has a simple construction, but the foot clearly shows the marks of the stone used in its creation. A thin layer of celadon glaze is applied, and the glaze color is dark due to the amount of iron and the firing temperature. The unevenness of the firing creates variations in color, and there are interesting pools of green glaze in places. It may have been used as a small drinking cup, or possibly as a water bowl or brush washer. There are two small chips on the rim.Although the surface is slightly aged, It has a nice texture that makes you feel the passage of time.
