Designed for food lovers, visitors and passionate home bakers, this immersive class celebrates the changing seasons through beautiful European-inspired baking using ingredients sourced from the Newcastle and Hunter region. In this class, guests will create the Hunter’s take on the viral Italian Maritozzi cream buns — learning how to make soft enriched pastry buns from scratch before filling and finishing them with seasonal creams and flavours inspired by local produce. Depending on the season, flavours may include pistachio and strawberry, mulberry and lavender crème, citrus curd, roasted stone fruit, local honey or other rotating seasonal creations. Guests will also make a rustic seasonal fougasse, learning bread shaping and dough techniques while working with premium Hunter Valley olive oil, local cheeses, fresh herbs and seasonal ingredients that showcase the region’s exceptional producers. Throughout the experience, guests will learn practical baking skills, pastry and dough techniques, flavour pairing ideas and finishing methods while enjoying a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with a glass of Hunter wine. Perfect for couples, visitors to the Hunter region, groups of friends or anyone wanting an authentic local food experience, this class is designed to celebrate the people, produce and flavours that make the Hunter region so special.
