This vintage piece is a hand-carved Santa Clara Pueblo vessel by Johanna & Anthony. Born from the ground and shaped entirely by hand, this authentic black ware piece brings a grounding sense of time and peace into the modern home. Celebrated Pueblo artisans Johanna Herrera and Anthony Baca shaped the native clay using centuries - old coiling techniques, later burnishing it for hours with smooth river stones to create its soft, reflective glow. Very good vintage condition. Small chip on inside of lid. Date: estimated late 20th century.
