The Silence Between Breaths * Korean Modernist Mixed Media, 20th Century
The Silence Between Breaths Korean Modernist Mixed Media, 20th Century, Signed Kim Original studio work on celadon-painted paperboard — the green ground an intentional evocation of Goryeo-era glazed porcelain. Over this field the artist layered a minimalist graphite Buddha face, bold red and black geometric passages, and fluid ink calligraphy inscribing Shao Yong's Poem of Contentment (《知足詩》): No worries, no anxieties, no grasping desires — the bright moon and cool breeze are yours to take as you please. The bamboo-motif frame is hand-painted by the artist, red paint carried from the inner composition directly onto the frame edge, dissolving the boundary between artwork and border. A unified studio object. Signed lower left: Kim, with studio notation "col." Framed 25" × 31", sight 15" × 18"
