The Downrail is a modern revival of Ventana’s iconic wooden Downrail design, blending classic Santa Cruz craftsmanship with Swellcycle’s plant-based 3D-printed core technology. Built as a fast, smooth single fin, this board carries effortless glide down the line while still offering the drive and control needed for long, soulful turns. The refined down-rail geometry, moderate entry rocker, balanced volume distribution, and squash tail make it easy to paddle, stable underfoot, and responsive through rail-to-rail transitions. It’s a great choice for surfers looking for a board that can trim with flow, accelerate off the tail, and hold confidently in anything from mellow waves to more powerful surf. The reclaimed wood featured on the board pictured comes from old-growth redwood salvaged from a Martini & Pratti red wine tank built in the 1950s, and Alaskan Yellow Cedar offcuts from the legendary Western Flyer boat rebuild.
